Evaluating Investment Projects with a Group Decision Support System

چکیده

This work presents some issues concerning the utilization of the AGAP system (Aid to Groups of Analysis and evaluation of Projects). The AGAP is a group decision support system (GDSS) that was developed (at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra) as a distributed system allowing multiple decision makers to cooperate in order to evaluate and select investment projects. This work reports on several lab tests focusing one of the main activities supported by the AGAP system: the generation of alternatives (investment projects). The tests were conducted as a first step to start field tests, in order to ascertain the adequacy of the system to support: a group process; specific task structuring activities, both individually and in group; and several specific financial methods to evaluate investment projects. The test results are discussed and modifications on some functional modules of the AGAP system are proposed.
